The Corsair Collection: Browse the collection to access issues from 1929 to present day
The Corsair is Santa Monica College’s award-winning student-run newspaper. The publication has provided coverage on the cultural, social, and political stories of importance to SMC’s campus and community since the school’s founding in 1929.
The Corsair Collection includes digitized issues of the newspaper’s print versions from 1929 to 2011 (Volumes 1-100) and born-digital issues beginning February 7, 2020 (restarting with Volume 119). The digitization of the print issues was a three-year project that was completed in 2015 and headed by advisor and journalism professor Saul Rubin with the collaborative efforts of Mona Martin, Dean of Learning Resources, and Steve Hunt, college librarian. The Corsair is the first community college newspaper to be included in the California Digital Newspaper Collection (CDNC).
Issues from April 7, 2010 – December 4, 2019 are available on ISSUU under the heading “Santa Monica College Corsair Newspaper.” You can also visit The Corsair for more recent issues.
